Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing critical and compassionate care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in emergency care, you will deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise and adhering to professional ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate and communicate with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes, while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to enhance their healthcare experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills and knowledge.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Licensure and Certification

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is expected, along with occasional encounters with hostile individuals.
