This position is fully remote/work from home. Join Lumen's Enterprise UX Design & Research Team as a User Experience Research Intern. You'll work alongside experienced researchers to learn how we plan, conduct, and analyze user research that helps shape intuitive and impactful digital experiences. This internship is a great opportunity to explore the field of UX research, build foundational skills, and contribute to real projects that improve how users interact with our products.
The main responsibilities include: supporting research activities across Lumen's Product & Marketing teams, collaborating with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Developers to understand how research informs design decisions, assisting in conducting user researchincluding surveys, interviews, and usability testing, helping analyze and summarize findings from research sessions, participating in team discussions to share insights and brainstorm design improvements, and exploring both qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user behavior and needs.
What we look for in a candidate: program eligibility is contingent on the candidate's commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made. Required qualification includes being enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship. Graduating August 2026 May 2028. Preferred fields include but not limited to: Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, or a related field. Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June 1 August 6, 2025).
Proficiency and understanding of: curious about how people interact with technology, interested in learning how research improves user experiences, comfortable asking questions and eager to grow your skills, a good communicator and team player, familiar with basic UX concepts (through coursework, bootcamps, or self-study), some exposure to UX research methods (e.g., through class projects or personal exploration), and experience with tools like Figma, Miro, or survey platforms is a plusbut not required.
Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June August) and have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations). US Citizenship required.
Compensation: Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role. Hourly Based Pay Range: Min: $30/hour Max: $46/hour.
