Job Description

Overview

Your United journey begins with initial training in Houston, TX. Training lasts 6.5 weeks, where you will learn Uniteds safety and service standards. During training you will be assigned a base in one of our hubs and you will be welcomed as a full-time United employee after completing training and base orientation. While in training, United provides a stipend, hotel accommodations, and meals according to schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Represent United with pride and distinction through safety-first conduct and excellent service.
  • Engage with customers using outstanding interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding and compassion.
  • Be flexible to work global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
  • Stand, walk, lift, and assist with baggage and equipment; participate in emergency procedures as needed.
  • Serve and/or sell food and beverages in a professional manner.
  • Maintain dependability and timeliness to meet schedules and customer expectations.
  • Travel the world and participate in international trips as part of the role.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • High school diploma or GED; 2+ years of college preferred
  • At least one year of customer service experience in service industries such as retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, or social services
  • Clear, concise, and organized communication; ability to speak English fluently; ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to read and speak Hebrew fluently (where applicable)
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Ability to operate electronic devices for required tasks
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining before expiration; current passport held or ability to travel globally without restrictions
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (standing, walking, kneeling, lifting up to 250 lbs, etc.)
  • Pass a functional reach assessment and sit in a jump seat with seatbelt and harness fastened
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and willing to work a flexible schedule (including weekdays, weekends, holidays)
Onboarding and Training
  • Complete an evacuation drill during training
  • Willing to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • Pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; medical and recreational marijuana prohibited due to safety sensitivity
  • Pass a 10-year background check; background must not prohibit travel to United destinations
  • Meet FAA/United hearing and vision requirements
