Third Coast is an offshore focused midstream company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Our operations are primarily located along the Gulf Coast and deep-water producing regions in the Gulf of Mexico. We're seeking an Environmental Engineer, with a hybrid schedule (three days per week at our Corporate Office in downtown Houston) and two days remotely. The Environmental Engineer will support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and initiate and provide front end engineering for midstream operations, including natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines, NGL and crude oil pipelines, gas processing plants, and a deep-water floating production system. This role ensures that all activities are conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies, and provides technical expertise, conduct environmental monitoring, and assist with permitting, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Permitting

  • Prepare and manage environmental permit applications, modifications, and renewals (air, water, waste, wetlands, spill prevention).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations (BSEE, EPA, PHMSA, DOT, state agencies).
  • Develop and maintain Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and other regulatory documents.
  • Support audits, inspections, and agency reporting requirements.

Project Support

  • Provide environmental input for new projects, expansions, and facility modifications in support of sustainable environmental solutions.
  • Contribute to the annual project budget cycle by championing projects
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and participate in project planning to ensure compliance from design to construction and operation.
  • Coordinate environmental training for employees and contractors as well as training program development and yearly reviews.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Perform environmental sampling, data analysis, and interpretation for air emissions, water quality, and waste management.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports, including greenhouse gas, preparing waste manifests, coordinating disposal, preparing waste profiles, and discharge monitoring reports.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and databases. ESG and GHG tracking support activities such as Scope 1, 2, and 3 reporting as well as other environmental performance metrics

Incident Management

  • Assist with spill response, remediation activities, and root cause analysis.
  • Support emergency preparedness and participate in drills.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to minimize environmental risks and enhance sustainability.
  • Stay informed on emerging environmental regulations and technologies relevant to midstream operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of environmental engineering experience, preferably in the midstream or oil & gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to conduct the appropriate level of environmental engineering to support the Third Coast project management team (Project Management Office)
  • Laison with third party environmental firms that support Third Coast projects
  • Proficiency in environmental permitting and compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; GIS and environmental modeling software experience a plus.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • HAZWOPER certification.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based with regular field visits to offshore facilities and pipelines.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • Must be able to wear the required PPE and pass company-required safety training.
  • Hybrid office/remote work schedule, subject to change.
