Position Overview

A leading FoodBev company is seeking a skilled, senior Quality Assurance (QA) leader to oversee all aspects of food safety, quality systems, and compliance. The position will be responsible for managing certification audits (BRC, SQF), leading lab technicians, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and customer standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can build and maintain a strong food safety culture while driving continuous improvement across local, multi-site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all food safety and quality assurance programs in compliance with BRC, SQF, FDA, USDA, and customer requirements
  • Serve as the primary contact and lead during BRC and SQF audits, ensuring certification is maintained
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HACCP, GMP, allergen, sanitation, and traceability programs
  • Prepare for and manage external and internal audits, ensuring audit readiness at all times
  • Oversee corrective action and root cause analysis to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
  • Maintain and update quality system documentation, SOPs, and training programs
  • Lead and supervise lab technicians, providing training, mentorship, and performance oversight
  • Ensure accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products
  • Validate and verify laboratory methods, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards
  • Partner with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support product launches and resolve quality issues
  • Communicate quality metrics, trends, and improvements to leadership
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in quality systems and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive QA/food safety experience in food manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a management role
  • Demonstrated expertise in BRC and/or SQF certification systems
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, FDA, and USDA regulations
  • Proven leadership ability in managing and developing lab technicians or QA staff
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with attention to detail
